The Original Gameboy came out as DMG = Dot Matrix Gameboy .

 These DMG cartridges play on every Game Boy (including Pocket , Color  ,Advance SP)

CGB = Colored Game Boy: The transparent cartridges exclusively released for the Game Boy Color (but also play on Advance)

AGB = Advanced Game Boy) : The Smaller Sized Cartridges only play on the Gameboy Advance (and on some Nintendo DS)
